Englewood, Florida -- Labor Day weekend is also when Englewood celebrates its founders.

Dozens of people gathered over the weekend at Indian Mounds Park and celebrated with several fun, "keep cool" events.

Kids and adults raced to melt an ice ball with their bodies -- a contest called "Hot Buns." A local gymnastics group "Flipped for Tips!"

The park is on Lemon Bay and some arrived by boat.

Citizen Journalist and Englewood resident Bob Cannon said the city almost had NO events this year and volunteers saved the day.

Besides the Saturday events at Indian Mounds Park on Lemon Bay there is the annual Pioneer Days parade held Monday.
