Clearwater man accused of shooting at another driver

A driver fired a shot at another driver last month during a road rage incident, Tarpon Springs police said.

On Oct. 5, according to an arrest affidavit, Trace John Stroub, 23, got into an verbal altercation with the other driver in the 44000 block of U.S. Highway 19 North. Stroub got a Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun and fired a single round at the other driver's car, hitting it in the door, the affidavit said.

No one was injured, police said. The victim reported the incident.

Stroub told police he fired the gun because he said the other driver had a gun and he was in fear of his life. A deputy searched the victim's car and did not find a weapon, the affidavit said..

Police noted that Stroub had a cellphone but did not contact authorities.

Stroub has been charged with aggravated assault and shooting a deadly missile into/at/within an occupied vehicle. He was released after posting $15,000 bail.
