Sprawling landscapes, beautiful beaches and plenty of issues related to you, your family and your community made for an easy choice to join 10 News after being offered the opportunity.
I moved to Tampa from the Ft. Myers/Naples area, where I reported on variety of stories, which included everything from a massive underground marijuana grow operation hidden inside a shipping container buried in the backyard of a home in residential community... to a viewer who called me for help after the power to his home was disconnected due to an error. He reached out, because he could not get the company to turn it back on, so I got involved and got his power restored.
Before telling stories in front of the camera, I spent several years behind it as a news producer. Most recently to moving to Ft. Myers/Naples, I produced for WOFL, the Fox affiliate in Orlando. My first week was when the Casey Anthony case started to break and my last day at that station was a week after Casey Anthony was found not guilty in the death of her daughter, Caylee. The highly publicized case gave me a fascinating and raw look at the legal system.
My years working in television also sent me across the country to work for KOVR/KMAX in Sacramento, where I helped re-launch the morning newscast for CBS 13 to include more viewer interaction via social media.
I started my career in Miami at WSVN - working my way up from editing video tapes (now we use computers), to news writer and eventually a producer for their popular morning newscasts.
Even though I grew up in Miami, I was born in Kingston, Jamaica and attended prep school there before my family eventually decided to move to Miami. That is where I stayed for many years - attending middle, high school and then college at Florida International University. I feel extremely fortunate to be here in the Tampa Bay area, where the roads are a little less congested.
