Poinsettia Luncheon supports Sarasota Opera

Sarasota, Fl – There are two long-lived traditions in Sarasota: The Sarasota Opera and the Poinsettia Luncheon,  which helps keep the music flowing.

The Sarasota Opera is now in its 58th season. Samuel Lowry, Audience Development Director for the Opera, says the group got off to a great start this fall with a performance of Don Pasquale and a youth opera production. “We’re looking forward to launching our winter festival season on February 10th with two new productions that have never been seen on our stage before … and of course grand, Italian, big-singing worked into the season as well,” explains Lowry.

The annual Poinsettia Luncheon is Thursday, December 8th at The Francis, 12890 N. Palm Avenue, Sarasota. The Opera Guild has put on the fundraiser for 32 years.  “We have auctions; we have a fashion show. We usually have about 200 people and it is our biggest fundraiser,” says Guild VP Antoinette Dowling.

10News is a proud supporter of the Poinsettia Luncheon and 10News Sarasota reporter Isabel Mascarenas will be the event’s host. Money raised from the luncheon supports the opera and its youth programs.
