Fun events for October 23

St. Petersburg, Fl - You can hit the beach in Clearwater and while you're at it take in the Chalk Art Festival. Dozens of local and regional artists have been using the sidewalks there as giant canvases. There's also a kid’s zone, music, and you can even vote for your favorite artist.

Probably some more traditional canvases at the Downtown Art and Craft Festival in downtown Sarasota. More than 100 artists and crafters are showing their work. This is a juried event, so that brings out the best. And with the holidays right around the corner, this is a great place to find some unique gifts.

It's the last day for a big Ethnic Festival in Spring Hill. For 25 years now, St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church has put on the festival. There are carnival rides and dozens of food booths featuring dishes from various countries and cultures.

And talk about unique -- there are some special mermaid shows today at Weeki Wachee Springs State Park. Some former mermaids from the 50's, 60's and 70's will be performing in a show entitled Legendary Sirens. It's something the park does only a couple times a year.  Shows Sunday are at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
