St. Petersburg, Fl – You can Walk Like MADD on Saturday, November 19 in Largo Central Park. The annual fundraising run and walk starts at 8:30 a.m.
Various Pinellas law enforcement agencies partner with MADD to put on the awareness event. “The walk itself will bring the awareness about the importance of MADD,” says Largo Police Chief Jeff Undestad. “Funding from the MADD walk will go towards their youth education, and victim services, and community outreach.”

This year’s walk is dedicated to Caroline Sine. The Pinellas County elementary school music teacher died in a crash last August. Police say a drunk driver ran a red light and hit Sine’s car. Sine’s boyfriend Sean Hankins was also seriously injured in that crash.
MADD provided counseling to Hankins, put him in touch with other families hurt by drunk driving, and is guiding him through the on-going legal process. “You’re not aware of how much they do, until unfortunately you’ve been in something like this,” he says.
10News is a sponsor of Walk Like MADD. 10News anchor Jenny Dean will sing the National Anthem and help host the day. If you go, be sure and say “hi” to Jenny and other folks from 10News taking part in the walk.
