4 arrested, dump truck seized in prostitution sting

Sarasota, Florida -- While targeting prostitution activity on North Trail in Sarasota, four men were arrested over a week period.

Sarasota Police arrested Manuel Enriquez, 54; Joaevan West, 45; and Jay Wilson, 77, on May 13. In addition to their arrests, three vehicle were seized under city ordinance including a full-size dump truck.

In February, the Sarasota Police Department Street Crimes Unit began an investigation at the Sarasota Airport Hotel on N. Tamiami Trail.

Detectives say they received information that employees at the hotel were knowingly renting rooms for prostitution and that they were acting as "look outs" for people engaged in prostitution and narcotics-related activities, warning them of police presence on the property.

An undercover operation was then conducted at the Sarasota Airport Hotel. As a result, on May 7, 33-year-old Mehul Patel was arrested and charged with renting space to be used for lewdness/prostitution, prohibiting prostitution, and related acts and deriving support from the proceeds of prostitution.
