Burglar locked keys in trunk, St. Pete police say

A man who allegedly tried to steal a TV last week didn't quite succeed, St. Petersburg police said.

They are looking for Donald Daniels, 64, who they said took a TV from a home on 21st Avenue South and put it in the trunk of his car.

Unfortunately for him, he also locked his keys in the trunk, police said.

When the homeowner arrived, Daniels was in the back seat of the car, trying to get into the trunk to get the keys. When the victim threatened to call police, Daniels ran.

Daniels was last seen near the Bayway Inn,  4400 34th St. S. He is described as 6-foot-one and 187 pounds. He was previously arrested twice on charges of obtaining or trying to obtain a controlled substance by fraud.

Anyone with information is asked to call the St. Petersburg Police Department at (727) 893-7780, or you can text the keyword "SPPD" and your anonymous tip to 847-411 (Tip-411.)
