Clearwater PD looking for robber who hit clerk with cash drawer

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- A robbery suspect went inside of the Speedway gas station located at 2577 Harn Blvd. around 5 a.m. on Thursday.

The suspect tried to steal the cash drawer after the clerk refused to hand over any money. The clerk held the suspect up at the store, attempting to stop him from running. The suspect smacked the clerk with the cash drawer on the head.

The 56-year-old gas station clerk was sent to Morton Plant Hospital to be treated for a minor injury to his head.

The robbery suspect is being described as a white or Hispanic male who is about 5'10" tall, with a skinny build. He was seen wearing gray pants, a green hooded jacket, and a green shirt to block his face, according to the Clearwater Police Department.
