Florida Today-- Canaveral Port Authority Police this morning arrested a 36-year-old Disney Cruise Line crew member of its ship, The Dream, on two counts of lewd or lascivious molestation and one count of false imprisonment of a 13-year-old girl.
Disney called port police just after 8 a.m. soon after the Dream docked at the Disney terminal following a four-day cruise to the Bahamas. The ship left this afternoon for a three-day cruise to the Bahamas.
Arrested was Ahmed Sofyan, a resident of Jakarta. It's unknown how long Sofyan has worked for Disney or what his duties were aboard the Dream.
The alleged victim's residence also was unknown today.
This afternoon Disney issued the following statement by Karl Holz, president of Disney Cruise Line: "We have no tolerance whatsoever for the behavior alleged in this incident," said "We are sorry that anything of this nature could have occurred on one of our ships. We place enormous value on the trust our guests have in us, and nothing is more important to us than the safety and security of each and every one of our guests."
Rosalind Harvey, senior director of communications & community affairs for the Canaveral Port Authority, said the full arrest report for Sofyan would not be available until Friday. She did say he remains locked up at the Brevard County Jail Complex.
Harvey said Disney acted quickly to report the matter to port police as soon as the incident was discovered.
"According to our police department Disney Cruise Line has been very, very cooperative," Harvey said. "They did everything they could with safety in mind."
