Drug-sniffing dog finds marijuana in teacher's bag, police say

Teacher arrested, accused of having drugs at school

SAN ANTONIO -- A teacher was arrested and accused of having drugs in her bag at Lanier High School Monday, according to an arrest warrant.

San Antonio Independent School District police arrested Ana Carrera, 23, around 9:30 a.m. Monday, according to a spokesperson with the district.

A random drug search was taking place at the school when a drug-sniffing dog was reportedly led to Carrera's bag.

Less than two ounces of marijuana were found.

Carrera will reportedly face a strict penalty because drugs were found in a "drug free zone."

She resigned from her teaching position after the incident.

This was Carrera's first year teaching at Lanier, according to the school district.
