Former Hillsborough Co. substitute teacher accused of kissing, touching student

TAMPA -- A Hillsborough County charter school substitute teacher has been arrested for lewd or lascivious molestation following an incident involving a 14-year-old student.

According to police, the incident happened around 1 a.m. May 6 after 28-year-old George Washington Foreman, Jr. arrived at the 14-year-old victim's apartment.

Foreman and the student had been emailing back and forth and when he arrived, he started kissing the 14-year-old and touching her buttocks. Foreman and the student hugged four times and he grabbed her buttocks each time.

Foreman was a former teacher at Woodmont Chater School and he was arrested Tuesday, Dec. 19. He was also found with a small amount of marijuana. He has been booked at Orient Road Jail.

Woodmont Charter School has released the following statement:

“Our highest priority is the safety and security of our students. We are not at liberty to discuss any personnel issues; however, we can confirm Mr. Foreman was employed at our school as a substitute for only five months and was terminated 5/27/17. We can also confirm that all employees must undergo a background check with the District and be cleared before interacting with students. We have to defer all additional questions to the authorities.”
