Arrest made after 2 women caught in crossfire were shot, 1 dead

LAKELAND, Fla. -- Lakeland deputies responded to a call around 2:16 AM about a shooting that happened at a Chevron gas station located at 1615 W. Memorial Blvd. on Oct. 15, 2016.

A gunshot victim was discovered lying on her back by the deputies when arriving at the scene. The victim was identified as 39-year-old Andrea Dixon, and she was sent to Lakeland Regional Health where she later died of a gunshot wound to the chest.

Deputies were soon informed that a second gunshot victim was dropped off at the ER following the shooting incident at the Chevron gas station. The victim had several gunshot wounds and was identified as 34-year-old Johnetha Ragins.

The crowd alerted deputies that the shooting may have been related to a brawl that broke out outside of Rumors Night Club, located at 935 E. Memorial Blvd. One of the members of the group involved in the brawl was 25-year-old Derrick Deon Robinson -- armed with a handgun. The altercation relocated to the gas station. Three witnesses saw Robinson point a handgun at the group involved in the previous brawl and began firing multiple times, striking Dixon and Ragins who were socializing with members of the opposing group.

Robinson has 17 prior felony arrests and 4 felony convictions.

At about 6:0 p.m., Robinson turned himself into Lakeland Police. He has since been transported to the Polk County Jail and will be charged with First Degree Murder, First Degree Attempted Murder, and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
