(Air Force Times) -- An employee for a U.S. Central Command contractor is accused of pointing a gun at people during a road rage incident in Tampa, Florida, on Sunday, and kicking, pepper-spraying and chasing a man who tried to intervene.
Andre Anthony Rivera, 42, of Riverview, Florida, is charged with six counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count each of battery and child neglect, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. He was being held Wednesday on a $117,500 bond.
Tampa police were initially summoned to an intersection Sunday on a report that the driver of a silver Honda was threatening to shoot a person, according to the department. A second call followed a short time later, this time to report that a man in a silver car had pointed a gun and kicked a person at another intersection. The caller provided the vehicle tag number, police said.
Officers stopped the car at Amado Drive and South 22nd Street, where Rivera was arrested.
A search of his car turned up a loaded Glock .40-caliber handgun, an Asp baton, three canisters of pepper spray, two loaded magazines and a knife, police said.
After arguing with an unidentified woman, Rivera reportedly pepper-sprayed a man who tried to intervene, kicked him in the head and chased him while pointing a gun and threatening to kill him, police said.
Fox 13 in Tampa reported that Rivera was traveling with a 16-year-old relative at the time of the incidents.
Rivera works for the Herndon, Virginia based- Blackbird Technologies, a contractor for U.S. Central Command at MacDill Air Force Base, according to a CENTCOM spokesman.
Sunday's incident was not the first time Rivera has been in trouble with the law. He was arrested in June 2008 on charges of armed burglary and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrest records.
Rivera spent five days in custody and was released on his own recognizance at the time, the documents show.
The case was dismissed the following month, according to online court records.
