Man accused of stabbing, cutting 3 Clearwater officers trying to arrest him

The man was involved in a domestic dispute when he pulled a knife and cut officers trying to arrest him, officials said.

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Three Clearwater police officers responding to a violent domestic dispute were cut by a suspect's knife.

Police responded to the incident involving 36-year-old Justin Shuford, who was seen beating up a woman near the Clearwater Beach roundabout, according to a news release.

Citizens that tried to help the woman couldn't approach as Shuford was acting aggressively. While the officers took over to make an arrest, Shuford pulled out a small knife and was able to stab or cut each of them, the release states.

The officers were treated at an area hospital and released.

Shuford was charged with attempted homicide, two counts of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence and domestic battery.
