Man arrested for preying on girls via Facebook

Tarpon Springs, Florida -- A Tarpon Springs man is behind bars accused of preying on teen girls on Facebook.

Pinellas Sheriff's deputies say Melvin Bridgers, 34, created multiple Facebook accounts posing as a girl and befriending underage girls across the country.

Investigators say Bridgers coerced the girls into sending him sexually graphic photos and threatened them to keep the pictures and videos coming.

"With the anonymity that comes with the Internet, and sitting behind a computer screen, you don't know who you're talking to," said Bill Williger, a special agent with Homeland Security. "The fear that our parents instilled in us to not talk to strangers has gone away, so people are into sharing a lot more things online then they ever would have dreamed of doing 10 to 15 years ago."

Investigators say there could be more victims, so if you see anyone with the name Brenna Benson, or something similar, please contact authorities.
