Man fires shot into woman's car, steals purse at Tyrone Square Mall

The man fired one shot to shatter her driver's side window, and reached in to grab her purse.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The St. Petersburg Police Department recovered a car used in an armed robbery at Tyrone Square Mall on Thanksgiving night.

Police officers found a Saturn near 9th Avenue South and 44th Street South on Thursday, Nov. 23.

A 51-year-old woman walked to her parked car in the Tyrone Square Mall parking lot around 9:25 p.m. Thursday when she noticed a man following her, according to St. Petersburg police. She hurried to get into her car and lock her door. The man fired one shot to shatter her driver’s side window, and reached in to grab her purse.

The woman was not injured, according to St. Petersburg police.

The police department plans to have more officers in the areas of the parking lot and inside the mall this weekend.

The investigation is ongoing.
