Tarpon Springs couple die in murder-suicide

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. -- Two people are dead in what deputies are calling an murder-suicide in unincorporated Tarpon Springs Friday morning.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident which occurred before 10:13 a.m. at a residence located at 2550 Richard Road.

Deputies were called after a relative arrived at the home and found the scene. Deputies arrived to find Edith Kamp, 86, in her bedroom suffering from a gunshot wound to her head. She was taken to Bayonet Point Medical Center, where she died.

Her husband, Robert Kemp, 92, was found dead in a bathroom with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. A suicide note was found in the home.

Both of the Kemps were suffering from long-term illnesses and were being cared for by family and friends, deputies said.
