Owner arrested after dog set on fire, severely burned

Hardee County, Florida-- Arcadia Police say they have arrested the man accused of setting his dog on fire last month.

Back on March 20th, the dog was found severely burned outside her owner's home. She was rescued, and taken to the Hardee County Animal Rescue, where she was given the name "Hope". She has since been moved to the intensive care unit at BluePearl Veterinary Partners in Tampa, where she continues her recovery.

Hope's owner, 67-year-old Larry Wallace, wasn't initially charged in the case. He claimed he didn't know what happened, but after weeks of investigation, he's been arrested and charged with one county of animal cruelty and one count of arson.
