The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office is searching for the driver of a vehicle who left the scene of a Saturday crash that killed a 52-year-old pedestrian crossing U.S. Hwy. 19.
According to deputies, Harvey Frank Gray of New Port Richey, 75, was driving northbound on U.S. 19 approaching the Embassy Boulevard intersection Saturday evening when he struck John James Caruso, of Palm Harbor, who was crossing the highway in an area without a crosswalk.
Caruso died at the scene due to his injuries. Deputies added Tuesday that a second vehicle, described as low-profile with front-end damage due to the collision, also struck Caruso and left the scene.
Pasco deputies are hoping to question the driver of the second vehicle. Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call the Florida Highway Patrol at (813) 613-4020.
