St. Petersburg, Florida -- A homicide suspect is under arrest in connection with a fight outside a St. Petersburg club last week that led to the death of a man.
Artez Hooker, 31, of 1733 6th St. S., was arrested without incident about 3 p.m. Monday in the 5500 block of Roosevelt Boulevard, according to St. Petersburg police, who joined U.S. Marshals to make the arrest.
Hooker has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the June 16 shooting of Doncaro Keion Small, 32, during a brawl at the Hollywood Nites Club, at 1201 Dr. Martin L. King St. S.
Small died June 21 as a result of his wound.
About 1 a.m. June 16, officers responded to Hollywood Nites after receiving reports of a brawl involving dozens of people, police said. When officers arrived, the brawl was over but several people remained on the scene.
Soon after, Small arrived up at Bayfront Medical Center suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso, the sheriff's office said. The wound apparently occurred during the brawl at Hollywood Nites, and Small transported himself to the hospital.
Hooker is being held in the Pinellas County Jail.
