Three teens arrested in Lakeland home invasion

Teenagers broke into an older couple's house, and one suspect is still on the loose.

LAKELAND, Fla. -- Four suspects, one armed with a gun, forced themselves inside a house located at 3237 Cleveland Heights Blvd. around midnight on Monday morning.

Claudia Chritton opened the door after hearing the doorbell ring. Police said that's when the suspects entered the house. The suspects tied up Chritton and threatened to hurt her husband Chuck if he tried to stop them, according to police.

"She starts yelling, 'Chuck! Chuck!' and I wake up and come out, and I can see her on the floor and a guy comes down the hallway with a pistol and put it a couple inches from my head," Chuck Chritton said.

The suspects then burglarized the house, stealing several electronic devices and money, police said. The Chrittons said they even stole something that's only valuable to their family - their dog Ginger's ashes.

"I don't know if they thought it was.... I don't know what they thought, but they took it," Claudia Chritton said.

The suspects then fled with the Chrittons' car, a 2012 Black Buick Lacrosse, with Florida license plate BGU-C84.

According to the Lakeland Police Department, a deputy responded to a car speeding which then crashed into a ditch around the intersection of Main St. and Don's Ct.

Deputies arrested 16-year-old Julio Alcantar, 15-year-old Joseph Alcantar, and 19-year-old Isiah Coffy after noticing they fit the description from the robbery and all three were transported to the Lakeland Police Department. They were charged with two counts of armed robbery and one count of armed burglary.

"Many of these stories end much worse than this one did, so as Claudia said, the bottom line is we're here safe," Chuck Chritton said.

The vehicle that was driven into the ditch was a different stolen vehicle from Kissimmee, reported out of Jacksonville.

Police said there's at least one other suspect still on the run. He could be driving the Chrittons' Buick, which police haven't found.
