Clearwater, Florida -- Clearwater Police detectives are investigating a reported sexual assault case at the Sheraton Sand Key Hotel.
Police were called to the Sheraton Sand Key on Gulf Blvd. around noon on Thursday after a 32-year-old woman said she had been sexually assaulted. The incident reportedly took place late Wednesday and early Thursday in one of the hotel's second-floor rooms.
She is accusing a law enforcement officer of sexually assaulting her. The officer was attending a training conference for the International Association of Human Trafficking Investigators.
The officer does not work for the Clearwater Police Department or any other law enforcement agency in the Tampa Bay area. What agency he works for has not yet been released. The investigation continues.
