Denver siblings hit Powerball with separate tickets

DENVER - A brother and sister won big during last Saturday's Powerball drawing … with separate tickets.

Colorado had two big winners in Denver for Saturday night’s Powerball drawing – one $200,000 ticket matching 4 numbers plus the Powerball with the $1 Power Play multiplier option, and a $50,000 winner with the same number of matches but without Power Play.

Thinh D. bought her $200,000 winning ticket at the Shamrock 99 Shell station on 2680 S. Federal Boulevard while her brother Phu D. picked up his lucky ticket at King Soopers on 2727 W. Evans Avenue.

Thinh, who will use her winnings to buy a house, said that instead of a quick pick, she hand-selected her numbers because they “just felt lucky” to her.
Phu, who recently moved to Colorado from Vietnam, decided to play those same numbers.

Both siblings were just one digit away from winning the $246.8 million jackpot, which was claimed by a player in Georgia.
