JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Florida woman is facing several charges after deputies say they found her asleep in the front seat of her car at a gas station. An infant was on her lap and drug paraphernalia reportedly in the car.
Amanda Marie Ray, 29, of Duval County was arrested and charged with child neglect, possession of heroin, grand theft auto, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license.
Deputies say they found her asleep at the gas station in Ponte Vedra Tuesday in a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Kentucky. When they searched the vehicle, they say they found numerous syringes, both new and used along with other alleged drug paraphernalia. They also found a substance that tested positive for heroin.
She was booked into the Duval County Jail on bonds totaling $11,000.
A relative took custody of the infant.
This is the second time in recent months that an adult in Florida was found asleep in a vehicle with kids. Over the summer, police say a Sarasota woman was found passed out with drugs and kids in the car.
