Driver not wearing seatbelt killed in I-4 crash

POLK COUNTY, Fla. -- A 24-year-old was killed early Sunday morning on Interstate 4 near the Polk/Osceola county line when he was ejected from his pickup truck in a crash.

The male victim, James Gardiner Hodgskin,of Windermere, was reportedly attempting to pass a a second vehicle driven by , Yusuf Ibn Karriem Shabazz, 22, when both vehicles collided. The victim lost control of his Ford F-250 truck and it went off the roadway around 6:17 a.m.

The truck entered the median and overturned, ejecting the victim. He suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash shut down westbound I-4 for several hours this morning as FHP investigated the crash.
