Lakeland, Florida -- Governor Rick Scott named his final two appointments to the new Board of Trustees of Florida Polytechnic University, Robert Stork and Joseph Caruncho.
Eight Florida Poly trustees have been meeting for several months as they begin to build the new university in Lakeland from the ground-up.
Stork, 60, of Vero Beach, is the CEO of Communications International Inc., a wireless communications company. This is the second post Scott has nominated Stork to; he was named to the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council in June 2011. He is appointed for a term at Florida Poly that will run through June 30, 2014.
Caruncho, 54, of Miami, is a lawyer and CEO of Preferred Care Partners, a health care company. He has served on the board of trustees for Florida International University and will also serve a term at Florida Poly that will run through June 30, 2014.
Both Stork and Caruncho are frequent Republican donors and are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate. The Board of Governors is expected to name its final Florida Poly trustee soon, while the final two trustees will come from the faculty and students, once the school has faculty and students.
