St. Petersburg, Florida --  After spending months in school, young campers are now in search of schools of fish.

Fishing instructor Russell Sherrod will spend the next several weeks teaching them the fundamentals of fishing. If they want to earn a fishing trophy by the end of the session, they have to learn how to bait their hook and cast their lines.

6-year-old Timmy is determined to do well in camp and catch a big one. So far he’s pulled in a lot of seaweed and a few shells, but no fish.

But each time there is a tug on his line, his eyes light up because he knows this could be the one. Timmy says he would love to catch a grouper or a stripped fish.

11-year-old Kevon is only on his second fishing outing, but he knows that it takes practice and plenty of patience. Kevon says the real reason he wants to learn how to fish is to spend more time with his father, who happens to be an avid fisherman.

Even if they leave the pier without reeling in any fish, they will have learned lessons they can use in the real world.
