Pinellas Park, Florida---Many of us can hardly remember when or how we learned the value of a penny, nickel or dime.

But one thing you can count on.

It was likely a remarkable teacher like Mike Scheidt who taught us.  Scheidt is a kindergarten teacher at Cross Bayou in Pinellas Park.

He has been teaching five year olds for more than a decade.

“I think their enthusiasm when they come in each day they have a smile on their face and they have such a will and they are willing to learn and anything that you give them they seem to soak right up.”

At this age Scheidt says it's important for them to learn lessons that will last a lifetime.

For example, each student has a classroom job like reporting the days the week or giving the weather report.

And in this particular class he has two visually impaired students.

Marissa and Alex.

And each day Mr. Scheidt teaches them all a lesson not even money can buy.

“We are all different in our own way but we are all the same. So it's a blessing to have them in the class because it lets the kids see how special they are but they are just like you and I. They are ordinary. They are no different than anyone else.”

So in some ways it really is true. Everything these kids need to know about the big things in life they are learning in kindergarten from a remarkable teacher like Mike Scheidt.
