(USA TODAY) Harry's Law actress Kathy Bates had a double mastectomy, she tells People magazine.
The 64-year-old Oscar winner, who survived ovarian cancer nine years ago, was diagnosed with breast cancer several weeks ago.
She tells People:
"After much consideration, I underwent a double mastectomy. Luckily, I don't have to undergo radiation or chemo. My family call me Kat because I always land on my feet and thankfully this is no exception."
Next up for Bates? The Emmy Awards, where she is nominated for best actress in a drama for Harry's Law and outstanding guest actress in a comedy for Two and a Half Men.
