Felon charged in July homicide in Tampa

A convicted felon has been charged in the July homicide of a woman outside a liquor store, Tampa police announced today.

Antwoine Noland, 44, was already in jail on other charges, police said.

Alica Fussell, 43,  was shot in front of City Liquors, 9403 N. Nebraska Ave., late onJuly 19. Tampa detectives zeroed in on Noland and described him as a person of interest in the murder.  At the time, he was wanted for failing to appear in court on several charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed firearm and felon in possession of a firearm.

On July 22, the family of a 17-year-old girl reported that the teen was missing. She was believed to be with Noland, who was considered armed and dangerous. On July 26, Noland and the girl were found together at a Dale Mabry Highway hotel.

Noland was charged with several crimes, including unlawful sexual activity with a minor, and failure to appear on charges of felon in possession of a firearm and aggravated battery with a firearm.

On Wednesday, Tampa detectives added three new charges: first-degree murder, tampering with a witness, and retaliation against a witness. Detectives say that Fussell was a witness against Noland in an earlier non-fatal shooting in which Fussell was the victim.
