St. Augustine, Florida -- St. Augustine Police have arrested two people they said vandalized one of the recently renovated lions on the Bridge of Lions.

A 15-year-old girl and 18-year-old Montezz Blackmon now face misdemeanor criminal mischief charges, after officers said Blackmon confessed to damaging the stone feline at the foot of the bridge. The girl's name is not being released because she is a minor.
Our partners at WTLV First Coast News report workers are still trying to restore the lion, which is estimated to cost City of St. Augustine taxpayers $500.
Investigators said Blackmon spray painted the lion's eyes and nose red on Monday night.
The lion statues were placed by the bridge when it opened in the 1920s, giving the Bridge of Lions its name. WKMG Local 6 reports each statue is valued at more than $200,000.
