Boynton Beach, FL - A woman set on fire outside a Florida gas station says thoughts of her kids, helped keep her alive.
"My main thing is I need to stay around. I need to be alive for my kids."
Naomie Breton says that's the thought she clung to, the thought of her three sons. That's what kept her alive after she was set on fire early monday morning at a 7-Eleven in boynton beach.
The whole thing was caught on surveillance video.
It's 3 a.m. She's there to pick up her four year old son from her ex, the boy's father, but she says the father, Roosevelt Mondesir, got out of his car with a can of gasoline.
"He starts gouging me with the gas. And that's when you see in the film we're actually running away from one another. I'm running away from him."
Breton ran into the 7-Eleven, soaked in gasoline, but you can see her attacker yank her back out.
"And I go up in flames. And that's when I started screaming. And the only thing I saw to do was take off my clothes."
Breton got her clothes off and then called 911.
911 Call:
"He set me on fire okay. He set me on fire."
Operator: "Female says the male set her on fire."
"Hurry up, huh. Please, please, please. It burns. He's still outside he has a knife. He set me on fire."
Police and paramedics were on scene in minutes, Breton has second and third degree burns over 13 percent of her body. Her arms, her stomach, her face. She's in constant pain, faces months, maybe years, of therapy, but her children still have their mother.
"I just thank god that I'm alive because in looking at the picture, I probably shouldn't be here right now."
Her ex, Roosevelt Mondesir, is in jail facing an attempted murder charge.
