Fort Myers, Florida (News-Press) -- Police have not said what caused a man armed with a machete to enter the lobby at the Fort Myers Police Department headquarters.
The suspect, identified as Dejuan Anderson, 20, of Fort Myers, entered the building around 7:20 a.m. and asked for an officer by name.
Anderson then took out the weapon in front of officers.
He was initially Tased, but was able to knock away the wires.
A tense standoff ensued between Anderson and at least six officers in the lobby before he was Tased a second time and taken into custody.
Anderson is facing two counts of assault on an officer, one count of fraud and a count of resisting an officer without violence stemming from this morning's incident.
He had previously been arrested in March on a battery charge.
The police headquarters are located at 2210 Widman Way in downtown Fort Myers.
