In Florida's District 18, Republican incumbant Allen West lost a very tight race against Democrat Patrick Murphy.
WEST PALM BEACH, Florida (CBSMiami) - The lone Congressional district in Florida that was too close to call could send one of the most fiery Congressman out of Washington.
Representative Allen West was trailing Democrat Patrick Murphy by less than 1 percent in the polls.
As of 8:17 a.m. Wednesday, Murphy had won 160,328 votes to West's 157,872 votes with all precincts reporting, according to the Associated Press. With less than 2,500 votes between them, a recount seems likely.
Representative West has been one of the most outspoken conservatives in Washington, famously saying he knew of dozens of Communists in the government.
Democrats had been targeting West's office to flip. West had raised much more money than Murphy throughout the campaign, capitalizing on his national name recognition.
