MILTON, Fla. (AP) - A Panhandle man has been sentenced to death in the fatal shootings of a couple in a 2010 robbery.

The Pensacola News-Journal reports that Robert Hobart was sentenced Friday by Circuit Judge David Rimmer after being convicted of two counts of first-degree murder last month. A jury recommended the death penalty.

Prosecutors said the 43-year-old killed the couple in a robbery to feed his addiction to prescription painkillers.

He shot 41-year-old Robert Hamm and 43-year-old Tracie Tolbert in their heads and left their bodies beside a rural road in Santa Rosa County.
