Charlotte County, Florida (News-Press) -- A Punta Gorda woman was arrested Wednesday for stabbing another woman
at what the victim called a "mud hole" in the area of Pelican Drive and
Grove Boulevard in the Charlotte Ranchettes.
Angela Sutton was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Deputies
were called to Charlotte Regional Medical Center at 5:19 p.m.
concerning a woman who had been stabbed. The victim said she was hanging
out with friends at the "mud hole" where she and Sutton got into an
argument.
The victim said Sutton approached her and pushed her. She pushed back and Sutton said she was going to "gut her like a fish."
The
victim put her hands up saying she was not worth fighting over, then
Sutton pulled out a Smith & Wesson-type pocket knife and stabbed her
in the abdomen.
The victim was able to get away and was taken to the hospital. She has since been released.
Sutton
told a deputy later that she automatically pulled her knife out of her
waist band when she saw the victim walk towards her and had it ready for
use.
Sutton said the victim was trying to rekindle their
friendship and told her to get away from her. Sutton warned her to stay
away from her or she would cut her.
She then said the victim hit her in the mouth with a closed fist so she stabbed her.
Sutton
then said she would go with the deputy to where she left the knife.
Once there the deputy learned Sutton lied about he location of the knife
and kept changing her story.
She remains at the Charlotte County Jail and is being held on no bond.
