Just another reason to eat more veggies!
A study in China suggests eating broccoli, cauliflower, arugula, collard greens and other vegetables in the cabbage family may improve your odds of breast cancer survival.
A U-S-News article on the study says of the Chinese women diagnosed with breast cancer who consumed the most cruciferous vegetables - 62 percent were less likely to die of breast cancer.
Thirty-five percent were less like to have a recurrence of the disease, compared to those who ate less of these types of veggies.
Previous studies have shown a higher intake of these vegetables can reduce the risk of developing breast cancer, but this is the first study to examine women after a breast cancer diagnosis.
The Shanghai Breast Cancer Survival Study examined about five thousand women between the ages of 20 to 75.
