Dr. Oz calls the Garcinia Cambogiasupplement the newest, fastest, fat-buster.
You may have heardall the buzz about thistiny pumpkin fruit plant from Southeast Asia. Village Health Market in South Tampa is one of many health food stores answering a lot of questions about the popular supplement.
10 News wanted to take a closer look to see if this weight loss supplement works, and is really worth your money.
Dr. Steven Masley is a St. Petersburg medical doctor and nutritionist. He also specializes in vitamins, nutrition and supplements. He says limited studies suggest Garcinia (which also goes by the extract name of Hyroxycitric Acid) works as an appetite suppressant and it can block fat cells from expanding.
However, Dr. Masley points out, for you to lose 5 to 10 pounds over a two month period, you would need to take nine pills a day!
That can really add up because a one week bottle cost us about $12 dollars.
Dr. Masley offered our 10 News viewers, what he calls, a much better weight loss plan that will cost you less, fill you up and help you shed those extra pounds.
Dr. Masley says for about $1.00 a day, you can drink a breakfast that will help you lose weight.
He says the protein will help rev up your metabolism and the fiber will keep you full all morning.
Here is the basic weight loss protein/fiber smoothie Dr. Masley recommends:
- Blueberries or any other berry
- (1 cup Frozen berries (blueberries, raspberries, cherries, etc)
- Unsweetened almond milk
- (1.5 cups Calcium-fortified almond, soy milk, or non-fat-organic cow'smilk)
- Flax seeds
- (1 Tbsp Flax seed, ground (or chia seeds)
- Protein powder like whey or to avoid dairy try rice/peas
- (1 scoop Protein powder (20-30 grams protein) whey, rice-pea protein,or soy)
This combo is great with breakfast, for a snack, or as dessert. This is my breakfast 4-5 days per week!
Prep time takes just 2 minutes for one serving, which is about 2.5 cups.
Just combine ingredients in a blender and process at the highest setting.
To make your clean up easier, rinse the blender immediately.
