TAMPA, Florida - Hillsborough County commissioners voted on Wednesday to move forward on drafting a new ordinance to penalize tow truck companies who illegally tow drivers.
The change is a direct result of the 10Investigates series of stories about cars being towed from bars and restaurants after drivers made the right decision not to drink and get behind the wheel.
Tow trucks are not allowed to tow cars between 9 p.m. and noon, but 10Investigates found hundreds of cars were being Hooked up and hauled off.
