Jacob's legacy lives on with Mom delivering penguins to his school

Jacob's mom, Michelle, brought stuffed penguins to his schools so his friends can remember the special little boy.

SACO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — At Young School in Saco Tuesday, you would have thought you were at the South Pole.

The students and staff were all dressed up as penguins to remember their former schoolmate, Jacob Thompson. The 9-year old, whose story touched people across the globe, died Sunday after battling neuroblastoma for four years.

Jacob’s mother Michelle was at the school Tuesday to hand out penguins – his favorite animal – to each and every class, including Jacob’s.

As of Monday, 228,564 letters had come to Jacob and 18,378 parcels over the last three-plus weeks since his story was first told.
