HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. -- The 13th Judicial Circuit Administrative Office issued a warning for people to be aware of a phone scam concerning jury service in state and federal courts.
Victims are being told that they have not complied with summons for jury duty and are compelled to give over personal information or money to avoid fines or jail.
Potential jurors are not contacted over the phone, email or text message, but are instead contacted through summons sent by mail.
If you are contacted by anyone conducting this scam, call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8000.
If you are concerned that you have been summoned for jury service but are unsure, call Jury Services at the Clerk's Office at 813-276-8100 ext. 4747.
