2 people die in Hudson multivehicle accident

Hudson, Florida -- Two people, both 87 years old, are dead after their car turned in front of several others on U.S. 19 on Thursday morning.

About 11:40 a.m., Lee and Vilma Miller, both 87 of Hudson, were northbound on U.S. 19 approaching Tower Drive in a 2006 Ford Taurus, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Lee Miller started to make a left turn in front of southbound vehicles, and was the Taurus was hit on the passenger side by Lisa Witfoth, 36, of Hudson, in a 2006 Dodge Charger, and David Cana in a 2003 Honda Civic, FHP said.

Cana then struck the Charger, as did Alexavier Caraballa, 18, of Hudson, in a 2003 Nissan Altima, according to the FHP.

The crash closed the southbound side of U.S. 19 until about 3:25 p.m.

Lee and Vilma Miller both died at the scene, FHP said. No one in any of the other vehicles were injured.
