Port Richey, Florida-- A 7-year-old girl who was severely bitten by a dog on Friday was staying with friends when the attack occurred, according to the Pasco County officials.
The county's public information officer says the girl and her mother had been staying with those friends for a couple of weeks. The dog's owner told authorities the 90 lb. chocolate lab was aggressive to children and was being kept in the back room.
The girl reportedly went into that room while no one was watching her and was bitten by the dog.
The girl was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital as a trauma alert. The attack reportedly left severe lacerations to her face, eye and nose.
First responders said the girl may need reconstructive surgery.
