Family Fun Day/Beach Blast Saturday September 5, 2009

Looking for something free and fun to do this weekend? Check out Treasure Island! The city, with help from local businesses are holding an all day event for families. It kicks off at 8 a.m. with skimboarding competitions, sand sculpting contests, fitness and health speakers and demonstrations, arts and crafts, food, drinks, live music and more!

There will be fireworks at 9 PM. The event is free to attend. It's located near the Bilmar Hotel at 112^th Avenue and Gulf Blvd. You can park on the beach for $10.

Chick-fil-a Free chicken sandwich on Labor Day!

Get into the college football spirit and wear your favorite sports team gear to Chick-fil-a on Monday, September 7 and you can get a free chicken sandwich! Promotions starts at 10:30 a.m. until closing.

All About Steve Movie Review

Our moms street team member, Holly was able to catch a sneek peak of the comedy All About Steve earlier this week.

Here is Holly's review:

Wacky, whimsical look at "Mary Horawitz's" life. She is a crossword puzzle writer who is very smart but innocent and lacking in social skills and guile. After meeting "Steve" on a blind date set up by parents Mary falls in love at first sight trying to find the "normal" that everyone else thinks she should achieve. Mary believes every word Steve says on the date which is cut short when Steve is called away to cover a story as he is a photojournalist for CCN. Mary believed Steve when he said he wished she was able to go with him on the road, this was his excuse to get out of the rest of the date and remove himself from the crazy blind date. Mary follows Steve who feels he is being stalked.

Traveling to cover headline stories Mary follows Steve with many funny situations this entails. Mary meets an assortment of friends who help her follow Steve as she is egged on by Steve's coworker who is playing pranks on Steve and encouraging Mary.

Thru it all Mary remains positive and willing to go the distance to change her life to find normal only to find out she should not change herself but find a group of people who accept her as herself. Not everyone fits the same mold this is why there is more than one mold.

Left the movie with a smile on my face and feeling upbeat. Great movie to take the girlfriends or the teenage girls. Funny, crazy, upbeat, wacky. The guys will not like it.
