The holiday season is a hectic time of year. Trying to coordinate gift buying, travel, and parties, along with our usual daily activities can be stressful. It can also put a strain on your budget. But it doesn't have to. By planning ahead and purchasing a few key pieces, you can turn your everyday wardrobe from ho-hum to fabulous!
Don'ts
1. Don't show too much skin. Put you and your fellow partiers at ease by subtly accentuating one of your best features. For instance, a halter-style dress or top to show off your arms.
2. Don't go overboard with the sparkle. Wear one item with beading, metallic or shimmer accents and keep the rest of your outfit toned down.
3. Don't get caught being over or under dressed. Be sure to read the dress code on the invitation and follow it. If you are unclear, call the host or hostess for direction.
Do's
1. Do pay attention to detail on every aspect of what you wear and how you put yourself together. Grooming should be immaculate including hair, makeup, and nails. (Try some of our home spa treatments mentioned in our previous Better Beauty Blogs.)
2. Do plan ahead. Purchase a few shiny or sparkly accessories early in the season then pair them with the dressy basics already in your closet. Some suggestions: A velvet jacket, a beaded top, or a clutch bag in silver or gold metallic. These pieces will add just the right holiday cheer to your basic black dress or slacks and you can find them at any price-point.
3. Do make sure your clothing is clean, well pressed and fits properly. Your garments will appear more expensive and you certainly don't want to be fidgeting in ill-fitting clothes all night.
4. Most importantly, do put a smile on your face and enjoy your friends and family!
