Tampa, Florida - A Tampa resident with 19 prior arrests has been charged in the shooting death of Walter "J.J." Revear at the Interstate Lounge Tuesday night.
Jimmy Lee Cruz, 33, surrendered himself at the Orient Road Jail this evening. Detectives had been in contact with his lawyer, who negotiated the surrender, police said.
Cruz is charged with one count of second degree murder.
The arrest came hours after detectives got a tip that led them to Cruz's residence on Chadbourned Drive. The SWAT team entered the house but no one was there.
Jail records show Cruz has 19 prior arrests dating back to 1996. Past charges included trespass, aggravated assault, domestic battery, drug possession, battery on a law enforcement officer, soliciting another to commit prostitution and attempted murder.
