CITRUS SPRINGS, Fla. -- An 18-year-old man was shot and killed while at a gathering in Citrus Springs, according to the Citrus County Sheriff's Office.
The sheriff's office says it received a call about the shooting around 1 a.m. Sunday. Deputies found the victim, Fredrick Drew of Inverness, non-responsive. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.
Investigators say a large gathering had occurred near Citrus Springs Blvd. and E. Noah Lane and a fight broke out, during which shots were fired.
Deputies say a suspect, 16-year-old Deandre Jordan Phillips of Crystal River, was arrested without incident at him home early Sunday morning.
Phillips is a student of the Renaissance Center and Drew was a graduate of Citrus High School.
