ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- It turns out, the biggest day in the NFL season is a huge day for business at local restaurants. Whether you're eating in, taking out, or whipping up something at home, you're spending more this year on your Super Bowl celebrations.

A recent shopping survey shows most people will shell out about $64 on their team's favorite clothing and snacks. That's up from $59 last year.

More than 71 percent will go toward food and drinks. Nearly 9 percent will buy a shirt or some accessory. Six percent will help decorate the place. 2.4 percent say they will pull out all the stops and buy a new HD flat screen TV just for the big game.

But you don't have to spend big to have a good time.

Food seems to be synonymous with Super Bowl Sunday. From chips to dips to wings, there's nothing that doesn't go well with football. As preps are underway in Indianapolis for the showdown, Buffalo Wild Wings in Clearwater is getting prepared for fans.

"The energy in here is literally like you're going to be at the game, in the stadium, cheering on your favorite team, people are going to be going absolutely wild," says Brittany Ward, vice president of Marketing and Entertainment at Buffalo Wild Wings.

There's plenty of space to watch the game, but it's the view that has customers making dozens and dozens of orders.

"We'll do over a 100 percent increase from any typical Sunday on NFL season. Specifically, over ½ of our sales will be just traditional wings alone," says Ward.

Last year, Buffalo Wild Wings restaurants sold more than 6.5 million wings for the Super Bowl. The company says that's enough wings to cover the footprint of Lucas Oil Stadium 3.5 times!
