RESTAURANT RED ALERT
UPDATE: The same CiCi's Pizza we visited Feb. 1 on 66th Street in Kenneth City continues to struggle with insects.
We've just learned a state inspector returned again on Feb. 6 and found the restaurant once again filled with live roaches.
The insects were found under the pizza buffet line and in a container of napkins. You may remember, we too spotted roaches running around during our live broadcast last week.
10 News originally reported CiCi's remained open for business, but we have since been informed by the chain's PR firm, the Kenneth City location closed voluntarily on February 2nd, the day after our live report.
Here is the latest statement we've received from Cici's:
"Because safety and cleanliness are our top priorities, CiCi's continued to inspect and rigorously clean the Kenneth City restaurant each day by dismantling booths, removing equipment and applying treatments. During that process the evening of Feb. 1, we realized that despite our extensive efforts, we still had a problem and made the voluntary decision to close our restaurant indefinitely. Your video cameras documented the still dismantled, closed dining room later that night. We are committed to doing everything we can to ensure a safe, enjoyable dining experience for our guests and will continue to work alongside the health department to reopen when we are confident our high standards have been met."
- Kyle Smith, Sr. VP of Restaurant Operations at CiCi's Pizza
